Quilt Culture

Let me tell you a story…

There once was a wise old man that told me a story about his life.  You see, he had 3 children.  His wife left him, and he had to raise the children alone.  He thought about his life when asked how he did it, how he raised his children by himself, and he said this.  Life is like a 3 legged stool.  There are 3 major areas of your life that you need in order to be balanced and stand on top of the stool.  If you are missing one, then the stool will fall over.  The first area is your personal life.  That means your family and friends and the personal relationships you cultivate everyday.  The second area is your professional life, your job or career.  And the third leg is your spiritual life, your health.  You must always balance these 3 areas of your life.  Each one will grow and change at different rates throughout your life, but as long as you are mindful of all 3 then you will be able to maintain balance and stand on the stool.  The wise old man was my father and he is correct.

We have been working tirelessly for 2 years to build you all an amazing Quilt Shop for the People and we have succeeded.  Now it’s time to balance the 3-legged stool.

The only constant is Change.

As Quilt Culture passed its 2nd anniversary this past month we sat down and did some reflecting.  It’s been an amazing 2 years but as with all things change is constant and if you don’t change you likely will not survive.  Our business and our culture continues to grow at a fantastic pace but there are things we would like to do for the quilting community that take time.  In light of that we are adjusting our hours to give us the time to improve and grow.  Starting June 1st 2024 Quilt Culture will be open Wednesday through Saturday from 10am to 3pm.  Our new hours will not impact Community Service which will still meet every Monday from 9am to noon and it will also not impact the Spinners and Weavers that meet the first Monday of each month from 1pm to 3pm.  Thank you for understanding and please come see us Wednesday thru Saturday.  We look forward to helping you with all of your projects (or just come by for a visit, we like that too lol).

JOY 2.0

We are excited to tell you that we have upgraded our JOY longarm machine.  We are calling her JOY 2.0 but I’m sure a more fitting name will emerge in time.  She is an Innova longarm on a 12-foot table.  This machine was purchased for YOU!  Yes, that’s right.  This machine is for the quilters to use to finish your own quilts.  While this machine costs about 5 times what the Handi Quilter cost, don’t worry, it’s still FREE for you to use it.  Not only that but, Vicki Haldane is still teaching you how to use it for FREE also!  Yes, sometimes change is good… really good!  Please sign up on our website www.quiltculture.art or by clicking here.

FREE OPEN SEW

Free open sew will be held on Thursdays only starting June 1st. We have had an excellent turnout on Tuesdays in the past and hope that Thursday attendance will be just as great.  Also, Free Open Sew is now meeting in the classroom so there is plenty of space for additional quilters to join in the fun and make some new friends.  Please click here to sign up for free open sew.

CHIT PICKIN!

LOL! We have had such fun with the $5 BOM and CHIT PICKIN’ days.  Don’t worry, we aren’t stopping picking CHITS, but we are changing the pick-up date for the Blue Box from the second Monday to the second Friday of the month starting in June.

Quilt Culture Calendar

We’ve added a calendar for the month so you can see all the happenings at Quilt Culture at a glance.

Joy Project

Thank you to all those that turned in Joy blocks for us to add to our collection. We love seeing all what all you talented and creative quilters bring to the shop. Congratulations to the winner of the raffle basket Sarah Owens!! While the raffle is over, we still have space to fill so keep bringing in those blocks and have a visit with us it’s the best part of our day.
